What's new in store ....

Good afternoon

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I just wanted to touch base and run through a couple of "goings on" in store. There is a great variety of classes this month. Here are just some. Yes, there are more !!

This week we have Sewing Machine club in Sylvania. The project will be done over 2 classes, August and September. If you can only make one that's fine, just let me know and I can set you up to finish on your own, or in our December catch up class. We will spend class one making our background using 1/4 inch chain piecing techniques and designing our leaves, nut and branches. Class 2 we will free motion, thread sketching the leaves.

In addition to the tuition fees below, the kit cost will be $18. I will be in touch with requirements for those who have booked, but it is basically threads and machine and accessories, including a 1/4 inch foot and a free motion foot.

If you want to join us, you can book in store or through the links.

Daytime class

Evening class

Here is my squashed and unfinished piece that I better get a move on with !!!

This class will run in Lindfield

Wed 13 Nov and probably Wed 4 or 11 Dec, if that suits everyone who joins the Nov class.

You can pay for the tuition fee through this link, and I will be in touch with kit costs ($18) and requirements (summary above).

We have 2 positions left in Karen John's Texture and Whimsy class that commences this Friday in Lindfield. This is a hand embroidery and applique class, and her techniques take the traditional and add a modern flair. This is our only class with Karen this year and is not to be missed :)

Sylvania's overlocker club happens this Friday. I am just finalising the project and will be in touch with all who have booked / or as you book.

A small kit fee is in addition to this tuition fee.

We also have 2 positions left in our Caroline Sharkey class in Lindfield. This is our last class with Caroline for the year. You do not need to be experienced to do this class. It is great for all level and age sewists. Take fibres, threads and fabrics and create your very own seascape. This is also a great class for Year 10 and 11 students who are looking towards major works and teachers wishing to upskill.

We have made an additional class for Vicky's One Block Wonder Quilt Class. This is to cater for the overflow in Sylvania. I know you want one in Lindfield as well and we are working on that date. Stay tuned for Lindfield. Let me know if you want to be kept updated.

For Sylvania the class is running 23 August. We have added some extra fabrics to the specials wall that are great for this technique.

You can book here or instore. This class is filling fast, and we are limiting numbers as you need space.

Vicky is also teaching a ruler work class this month. It is based on Amanda Murphy rulers and is about free motion quilting with rulers.

This is an intermediate class.

Our sit and sews in Sylvania are proving popular

You have the choice of Monday morning - no teacher

Tuesday afternoon - no teacher

Tuesday night fortnightly - teacher guided

We have not found the right time and date in Lindfield yet. If this sort of class interests you, please make contact with your preferred day, frequency and time.

We do have a weekly Thursday afternoon dress making class in Lindfield. You can pay a week ahead or pay for 4 weeks and get a discount. You can make, repair or alter your own pattern with the guidance of a teacher. That way you get to do the project you want with assistance. High school students are welcome in this class. Beginners are welcome in this class. We can help you choose a suitable project if you don't know here to start.

We have 3 or 4 positions left in Deborah Louie's walking foot quilting class in Lindfield.

This is Friday 23 Aug and is a great beginner's quilting class. All brand machines welcome. Deb is a master in quilting and you will learn so much.

We also have positions in her Sylvania class that happens some months on Thursdays

You can do applique, free motion quilting or walking foot quilting in this class.

There are one or two spots in Lorena's class this month. Have a look at the links for the types of projects she does or to book.

Wednesdays

Saturdays

I am going to leave classes there.

We have some wonderful new gingham fabrics in. These are 100% cotton, approx 145cm wide and are only $22/m. We have 4 colours currently and will add more if these are popular.

We are discounting some of our ruler work sets

Here is the Janome one. These can be used on all high shank machines. Stock is extremely limited.

And the Brother ones - which are suitable for all machines as they are Westalee rulers. You have a choice of high or low shank.

Stock is extremely limited.

We have a few Janome overlocker creative books that have damaged / dirty covers. We are discounting these. They are a great reference book for your Janome overlockers.

We have just added lots of patterns to the website and these are also available in store. Sylvania has a larger stock of patterns, but we are happy to take any requests across to Lindfield. These include some great Tessuti dressmaking patterns, as well as bag and quilt patterns.

Dare I say it. but it's August and that means Christmas is approaching. The Quilting frame has been busy this year and it is only going to get busier leading up to Christmas. Please, if you want quilts quilted for Christmas, please book them in now so we can gauge numbers. You don't need to have finished them, just reserved a place in the queue. Quilts will need to be to us by early November.

Thank you to everyone who has been patient with machine servicing. Mark's operation was successful and his shoulder is healing. While he will not be able to return to full duties for a while, we hope to have him back on light duties sometime in the next month or so. Ian is still swamped but we have been getting William trained up so he can help with the minor/standard tasks. He's getting quite good too ;)

I'll leave it there and start to get dinner ready.

We hope to see you in store soon

Regards Bernadette and Co
